A different perspective

See the dancers from the accompanist’s side.

Dance is often filmed from the audience’s side. This rear-view recording lets you watch the dancers from behind while listening to the guitar accompaniment. Follow the movement and notice how the music fits the dance.

24-second excerpt from the Sevillanas course: Mirala cara a cara. The original on-screen Japanese label identifies a model performance filmed from behind. This excerpt contains music rather than a spoken lesson.

Ready to pick up your guitar?

Try a separate, short Sevillanas opening: watch the model, follow an explanation with English subtitles, then play the same passage with the guitar removed. Score excerpt included. No signup required.

Try the free practice exercise

You will need a basic Sevillanas rhythm, C and G7 chord shapes, and a capo at fret 2.

A hello from Japan

I’m Toshi. I started flamenco guitar at six.

I have spent my career sharing flamenco guitar in Japan. Along the way, I have created a collection of teaching materials to help guitarists learn to accompany dance and singing.

Now I am using AI to help translate and share the materials I have created with people overseas. I am still learning how best to reach and support that wider community. Your experience, questions and advice would help me understand what to make available next.

I would love to connect with people who share this love of flamenco, and help more guitarists enjoy accompanying others.

Try the Sevillanas play-along with score

Learning flamenco dance accompaniment

Can I practise without a dancer nearby?

Use these recordings to practise watching and listening from the accompanist’s side. The free excerpts include guitar. For a short exercise where you take over the guitar part, try the free Sevillanas lesson and guitar-free practice.

Are all 18 samples complete lessons?

No. Each is a short edited course preview with English subtitles in the spoken excerpts and a listening exercise. Complete courses are paid, and their language support varies. The previews let you see the camera angle and hear the ensemble before choosing.

Where should I start?

If you already know basic chords and a Sevillanas rhythm, start with the free Sevillanas practice. Otherwise, choose a style you recognise and try listening before playing. Tell me your experience and learning goals if you would like help choosing.

Can I share these resources?

Yes—please share the link to a sample page with your teacher, students or flamenco friends. Linking to the page keeps the practice notes and course information together. There is no signup requirement for watching.

Help shape what comes next

What would make accompaniment easier for you?

You do not need to be a teacher or an advanced player to get in touch. A short reply to any of these questions is welcome:

  1. What would you most like to learn?
  2. What do you currently find difficult—rhythm, chord changes, following dance, accompanying singing, or something else?
  3. Which sample interested you, and what would you like to learn next?

If you teach or belong to a flamenco community, I would also welcome advice on how these resources could better serve your students or fellow enthusiasts. There is no expectation of a review or public recommendation.
